anyway

This is found written on the wall in Mother Teresa’s home for children in Calcutta:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.  Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.  Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.  Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  It was never between you and them anyway.

  1. You have to love Mother Teresa. One thing that always comes across is the way she tried to bring others joy. People should always feel a bit better for having been in our presence. That goes for our kids and husbands, too! It’s not always easy, but it is a great goal to aim for…

  2. I needed that today, too. Thanks for sharing, Regan.

  3. I have this at the bottom of either my ‘shepherding’ or food blog & I need to read it occaissionally (I can’t remember how to spell that word today!!), too. I also keep a laminated copy on my desk top. God Bless!

  4. I had “Anything” taped to my bed stand growing up – I haven’t seen it since! Thanks for the trip down memory lane… I think I’ll give it to my girls now.

  5. It is one of my favourites!
